Natalie Torres
School: University of California at Berkeley
Class: Junior
Major: Political Science/Mass Communications
Natalie has been part of the Dollars for Scholars program for three years, and has been actively involved in community service
projects at UC Berkeley. Last year, she spearheaded a variety of community service projects in the surrounding communities.
In January 2006, Natalie will spend a semester in Washington, DC as part of The University of California Berkeley
Washington Program where she will continue her
full-time course work and participate in a political internship. This internship will prepare Natalie for the rigorous coursework she will undertake when
she enters law school after graduation from UC Berkeley.
Natalie is a product of the Pomona public school system and
prides herself on giving back to the schools in her neighbor-
hood. She sees college as a vehicle to accomplishing her dreams, and shares
this vision during her motivational speaking tours at the local elementary, middle, and high schools.
Natalie is planning to attend law school after graduation from UC Berkeley, and her top school choice is Stanford University. However,
she is willing to entertain offers from schools on the East Coast (e.g. Harvard, Yale).
Natalie's mantra is:
"You can be all that you want to be if you put your mind to doing it." Natalie is a strong believer
in being more by doing more.
