I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends!

My husband and I spent Canada Day with some of our closest friends. We have been friends with these two couples for many, many years. We have been there for each other through both good and bad, at times helping each other to navigate difficult periods and, at others, celebrating life's many joys. Yesterday, we laughed, shared stories, ate too much and talked about Ontario's current hot and humid weather. I am, admittedly, a hot weather wimp!

We were fortunate to see each other face-to-face yesterday but connecting in person isn't always possible. For example, one of my daughters lives a five-hour plane ride away and we often rely on technology to keep us connected. Technology doesn't replace face-to-face interaction but is a tool that, when used wisely, can bridge the gap.

That is one reason I have added The Water Cooler to my website. The 'cooler' provides a forum for you to connect with others interested in healthy aging and quality of life matters of importance not only to older adults but to all generations. I encourage you to sign up for the forum and to begin exchanging ideas, information and resources that you believe will benefit older adults and their families. I am new to using a forum of this type but to quote Michelangelo, 'I am still learning'. In fact, I will never lose my passion for learning!

As an aside, the photo on this blog is of me when I recently gave a presentation at a Business of Ageing Niagara Network quarterly event. I learned so much from the engaged participants that evening. Can you tell how happy I am?!

I look forward to hearing from you and to sharing ideas.
